Upper School Curriculum Overview 2010-2011
Our Upper School offers a robust, well-rounded classical education to students in grades 7-11. Grades 7-9 are considered the Logic Stage and students in these grades study Logic and Christian Worldview, in addition to their regular classes. Grades 10-12 are considered the Rhetoric Stage and students in these grades study Classical Rhetoric and then complete their Junior Thesis and Senior Thesis, which are the culminating assignments of their classical education.
We also offer a variety of electives, social activities and sports opportunities for students in the Upper School.
School Start and End Time
School starts at 8:40 sharp.
Morning drop-off is between 8:20 and 8:35.
Afternoon dismissal is at 3:25 p.m.
Student Drop Off Procedures
When you arrive at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, drive around to the back of the building. The rear lot should be empty. No one is allowed to park in the rear lot during the school day. Pull alongside the rear sidewalk (in parking area) and let your students out with all of their stuff. They should walk up the central sidewalk ramp to the covered walkway (NOT the stairs to the double doors on the right side of the back of the bldg). They then turn right to enter the main school entrance (double doors). They should go to the first door on their left, up the stairs and directly to their homeroom class with all of their stuff. Click here for a drawing of the drop off procedures.
Student Pickup Procedures
The goal is that cars will be rolling out of the lot at 3:30 p.m. When you arrive, please park in the outside row of parking spaces on the side and in the rear of the building. Do not park in the front parking lot and do not park up against the building. We have 44 designated spots available, and that should be enough. Click here for a drawing of the pickup procedures. Fill spots from Spot #1 and going back, consecutively. We want the side lot filled before we open the rear lot, which is closed during the day.
