Jean Armstrong

Grammar/Upper School Principal

Mrs. Jean Armstrong was named NCCS principal when the School was established in 1999. She returned to the classroom to teach grades 4 and 5 for several years before being named Grammar/Upper School Principal. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a master’s degree equivalent for studies at Johns Hopkins University in applied behavioral science and at Loyola College in administration and supervision. She believes in applying firm, caring discipline and in fostering self-reliance, self-control, and a sense of responsibility among NCCS students. Mrs. Armstrong loves seeing NCCS staff and parents grow to appreciate the strength and benefits of living with a biblical world-view. Jean and her husband, Bob, have three grown children, live in Bel Air, and worship at New Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Kathy Heeter

Grammar School Office Manager

Kathy came to NCCS in 2000 and has served as the Office Manager since that time. She attended Essex Community College where she earned an associates degree as an executive secretary. Kathy and her husband, Tony, have three children, live in Bel Air and worship at Christ Fellowship Church. Her ability to multi-task and think ahead combined with her pleasant personality make her a tremendous asset to our school. When asked what is your favorite book, Kathy responded, "I very much enjoy all of the fictional books written by Louise Penny. I have never read an author who has such deep, personal character development and who uses such beautiful language and thought in her work."


Lisa Stone

Mrs. Stone has been a part of New Covenant for several years. She has served as our lunch aide and as the Kindergarten Aide. Lisa and husband, Jeff, have three boys (two NCCS graduates and one current student) and they worship at Shining Star Baptist Church. Mrs. Stone's ability to do several things at once in a calm and professional manner is a blessing for an Upper School secretary. Did you know Lisa enjoys crocheting? She likes to make hats, scarves and even baby blankets.


Holly Fitzpatrick

Preschool Office Manager

Holly Fitzpatrick joined New Covenant Christian School in 2011 and is happy to be serving the teachers and parents as Preschool Secretary. Holly grew up in Harford County attending C. Milton Wright and Harford Community College. She and her husband, Scott, have two daughters. She feels her main ministry is teaching her girls about God's love for them. Her business experience and attention to detail make her the perfect fit for a job which involves interactions between children, parents, staff, and with the Maryland Child Care Administration.


Kim Davis

Accounting Manager

Mrs. Davis has been a school parent since her two daughters enrolled in the Preschool. She started working at the school in 2004 as a substitute teacher and lunch aide. In 2006, after leaving her position as a bookkeeper, she came to work full time at NCCS, where she handles all day-to-day financial workings of the school. She is known for her professionalism, her attention to detail, and her kind and patient manner. Kim enjoys traveling and one of her favorite memories was her trip to Europe visiting London, Paris and Italy.


Shon Miller

Mrs. Miller has been affiliated with NCCS for many years. Three of her five children attended our school. She has years of experience as a certified Christian counselor, a love of the Lord and a desire to see NCCS students thrive. Her ability to listen and understand the real issues is invaluable. Shon and her family worship at Christ Fellowship Church. Shon enjoys reading, trying new teas, cooking and baking. She is passionate about helping students grow confident in God's great and beautiful plans for their lives. She enjoys seeing students rise to their fullest potential in Christ.


Preschool

Cecelia Rapson

Preschool Teacher

Cecelia is our wonderful Preschool teacher. She loves working with children of any age but has spent the last several years with our youngest students. She is a true Renaissance woman, with experience as a fourth grade teacher, a lunch aide, a kindergarten aide, a preschool teacher, PTF secretary, an accountant and more. Cecelia graduated from the College of Notre Dame and she served four years in the Air Force. She and her husband, Mark, have three children (one grown, one NCCS graduate and one currently enrolled in our school). Cecelia loves watching her son play football and is anxiously awaiting the birth of her first grandchild in 2017.


Lynn Keane

Pre K-4 Aide

Lynn Keane began working as the Aide for our Preschool 4's in 2016. She and Cecelia form the perfect team! She is a registered nurse with three children at NCCS. Lynn's calm and gentle demeanor put our youngest students at ease right away. Lynn and her family worship at Mountain Christian Church. She loves to travel and particularly enjoys visiting family in New Jersey.


Karol Kim

Pre K-3 Aide and Morning ECP

Mrs. Karol Kim has two very different roles at NCCS this year. She serves as the morning ECP teacher and as the Preschool Aide for our 3's and 5-day 4's classes. Karol is a homemaker. She and her husband have three children and worship at Mountain Christian Church. Her youngest (Daniel) has been at NCCS since preschool so she has been a part of the New Covenant family for many years. Karol is passionate about education. She believes that learning is something that should not be taken for granted and that education is a privilege. Karol's gentle, quiet and encouraging manner is a perfect fit for the important jobs that she does.

Denise Kord

Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Denise Kord began teaching kindergarten at NCCS in 2016. She and her husband, Steve, have three children in our school. She has been affiliated with NCCS for many years and has her bachelors degree in early childhood education and a masters in educational administration. Her teaching experience includes several grades in public school and more recently four-year-olds at a local church preschool. Her love for teaching young children permeates everything she does! Denise is active in her church where she and her husband oversee the youth program.


Teresa Nos

Kindergarten Aide

We are blessed to have Teresa as a Kindergarten Aide. She has worked at NCCS for several years and brings years of experience as a preschool teacher to her job. Teresa and her husband have two grown children and worship at Harford Community Church. She is a mentor, a prayer warrior and a devoted grandmother. Teresa loves beach combing; finding shells and other "gifts from the sea."


Pat Eldreth

First Grade Teacher

Mrs. Eldreth began teaching first grade for NCCS in 2004. She is widowed and has two grown sons. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore and, after several years in the business world, returned to school to earn her master of arts in teaching degree from Towson University. Her students benefit from her love of learning, her thoroughness, her professionalism, and her Godly character. She believes in encouraging each of her young students to "obey without delay" and seeks to start them gently on the path of life-long learning. Pat delights in teaching the first grade as it allows her to combine the three things that she loves; teaching, children and the Lord. Years after leaving the Grammar School, her students remember learning about Maryland, about Thanksgiving and celebrating the 100th day of school.


Jill Kallmyer

Second Grade Teacher

Ms. Kallmyer has been at NCCS since our opening year. At that time she taught kindergarten, and in 2003 she moved to second grade. Ms. Kallmyer earned a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Towson University. She also has experience as a teacher in the Preschool and has served as the Director of New Covenant Presbyterian Co-op Preschool. Ms. Kallmyer is a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church and has two grown daughters. Her teaching style features a gentle and caring manner with consistent and firm discipline. It is a joy to watch her interact with her students as she encourages each child to excel. In her free time, Jill loves gardening and baking . She has been to London three times. She loves spending time with her granddaughter and loves teaching history! Her students look forward to the infamous "MUMMY WRAP" every year where they dress in Ancient Egyptian costumes, "mummify" themselves and their teacher and see history come to life.


Janet Barker

Third Grade Teacher

Mrs. Barker joined the staff of NCCS in 2002 as our third grade teacher. Her teaching is marked by an infectious enthusiasm for the Lord Jesus Christ, for her students, and for the material she teaches. She came to NCCS with eight years of classroom experience (in Christian schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey) and ten years of home schooling her four sons. She graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, with a bachelor of science degree in education and has taken graduate courses at Penn State. Her husband David serves as the pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Barker wants to be a model of servant leadership to the children under her care and wants her students to remember that "God is their life" and they should serve Him with gladness.


Jenni Richardson

Fourth Grade Teacher

Jenni graduated from Towson University with a degree in elementary education. She attended a local Christian school from kindergarten through twelfth grade and believes in the value of a Christian school education. She and her husband, Jim, live in Cecil County and worship at Forest Ridge Baptist Church in Forest Hill. She worked at the Child Development Center at APG before joining the staff of NCCS but New Covenant is her first elementary school teaching position. Jenni is a happy soul who enjoys life to the fullest. She and her husband enjoy traveling and working together to set up their new home. In her spare time Jenni enjoys four wheeling with her brothers and shopping with her sister.


Karen Rotton

Fifth Grade Teacher

Karen joined the Upper School staff of NCCS in 2015 and moved to our Grammar School the following year. She graduated from Towson State University and taught at several local Christian schools before moving out of state. She and her family spent several years in Germany where she home schooled her two children. Karen enjoys gardening, collecting interesting dishes and plates, and spending time with her family. Her extensive travels make her a perfect fit for teaching our fifth graders who learn about how and why our country began.


Lynne Rossi

Sixth Grade Teacher

Mrs. Rossi earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her experience includes teaching fifth grade in Baltimore County public schools and teaching Latin at NCCS. Mrs. Rossi and her husband, Rob, have four children (two at NCCS). Her oldest daughter was part of the first NCCS graduating class and was the first graduate to attend NCCS from grades one through 12. Lynne has a great sense of humor and a calm demeanor, perfect for teaching our oldest grammar school students as they transition to logic. Mrs. Rossi has 3 cats who are large and in charge and one of them is named Betsy Rossi. :-)

Mrs. LaPaglia earned a bachelors of science in music education and master's equivalency in music education and has many years of experience teaching music in local Harford County Public Schools. She is the accompanist at her church and looks forward to sharing her love for music and movement with the students of NCCS. Krista and her husband have three grown children.


Dawn Hennlein

Dawn has her Bachelors degree from Towson in Art Education. She taught Art for 13 years in Baltimore County Public Schools and has worked locally at Amazing Glaze and had given private lessons in her studio. Dawn loves to keep the children moving and engages many modalities. She is a high energy, delightful teacher! Dawn and her husband have two grown children and one grandson. Dawn started a ministry several years ago (Big Blessed Hearts Stocking Project) in honor of her parents. Ask her about that! In Dawn's spare time she loves working in her art studio, creating and painting. She is passionate about creating mixed media artwork that shines a light on Christ, and using her God given gifts and talents.


Adam Kristofik

Adam joined our staff in 2016 as the physical education teacher. He has served as basketball coach for our middle school boys team since 2015. He is currently a seminary student. He loves sports of every kind and played most in high school and college. He loves the idea of helping NCCS students develop skills that will help them not just in various sports but in life. Adam and his wife have two little girls and worship at New Covenant Presbyterian.


Shari Thompson

Latin Teacher

Mrs. Thompson is an NCCS “charter parent” and began her association with NCCS when her eldest son enrolled in kindergarten in 1999. She and her husband, Greg, have three sons and live in Churchville. Mrs. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree of science in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Delaware and has had formal and informal training in Latin and Spanish. Shari has a passion for children and believes that the love of Jesus Christ can be taught in any language. She began teaching Latin at the Grammar School in 2005. Mrs. Thompson teaches beginning Latin at the Grammar School and advanced Latin at the Upper School. When we asked Shari what she was passionate about she said.."TEACHING LATIN!!! " She loves helping her students realize that everyone can learn Latin. Mrs. Thompson loves walking with her 2 German Shepherds who may look and sound ferocious but are really just big babies.

Christina Adams

Ms. Adams graduated from Thomas Edison State College with a B.A. degree in English. Her teaching experience includes homeschooling and private tutoring. She is a published author who joined the humanities department in the summer of 2013 and loves sharing her enthusiasm for the written and spoken word. Christina adores the character of Christ and admires His strength and teachings. She has been able to share God's love with other through several mission trips to El Salvador, Romania, Hungary, Israel and also lived in Uzbekistan for a year.


Catherine Rodriguez Cappelletti

Mrs. Cappelletti joined the NCCS staff in mid 2012. She has homeschooled her children and served as the head of a large homeschool consortium. "Ms Cat" has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a concentration in special education. She loves facilitating discussion from her students. Cat and her husband Ryan have nine children between them. They are active members of Mountain Christian Church.


The Rev. John Ceselsky

Reverend Ceselsky serves as an Assistant Pastor at Aisquith Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, where he has served the youth and families of the church since 1998. John joined the NCCS faculty in 2010, teaching ninth grade Bible and Christian Worldview. John earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Baltimore and a master of divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Julie, live in Forest Hill.


Michelle Cockerham

Mrs. Cockerham graduated from The College of Notre Dame with a B.A. degree in communication arts. Her teaching experience has come from homeschooling her children and from three years of teaching at another Christian school. She came to NCCS in 2008. Michelle's passion and experience with Classical education developed during her years as a homeschool mom/teacher. She believes that guiding young people to see history, literature, and art as the record of God's unfolding plan of redemption is truly a joy. She and her husband, Gene, have five children and live in Joppa.


The Rev. Bill De Bloom

Old & New Testament

Reverend De Bloom teaches Bible, Publisher and Presentation Skills. He is a true Renaissance man. He graduated from Johns Hopkins with a degree in mechanical engineering. Before retiring (from BGE where he worked for 40 years) he went back to school to get his Master of Divinity degree which led to a Pastorate in a church in Baltimore. He has taught in Christian schools in Ocean City and in Baltimore County (subjects as varied as Aviation and Computer Science). He and his wife, Priscilla, have two grown children. In Bill's free time he loves to read and one of his favorite books is "God without Religion" by Andrew Farly


Melissa Finley

Mrs. Finley has been affiliated with NCCS for many years. She came back to teach in 2014. Her teaching style includes lots of dialog, songs and fun. Mrs. Finley and her husband have five children and worship at Living Hope Presbyterian.


Priscilla Ing

Mrs. Priscilla Ing graduated from Stevenson University with a B.S. degree in Information Technology with a minor in Mathematics. She has also completed an M.S. degree in information Technology and Telecommunications from Johns Hopkins University. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Priscilla is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Priscilla is passionate about mathematics, and is excited about helping the next generation of young people build problem-solving skills and learn analytical concepts that are relevant for all of life. She has two children enrolled in NCCS. She and her family live in White Marsh, MD. Their family worships at Grace Community Church.


The Rev. Stuart Jones

Reverend Jones has taught Apologetics at the Upper School (grade 12) since September 2010. He is an ordained minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (since 1977). He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia with a master of divinity degree. He is married to Sandra Gail Longtin. They have two children and two grandchildren living in the greater Baltimore area.


Nancy Kavanagh

Ms. Kavanagh came to NCCS after several years at home. Her teaching experience includes grammar, middle and high school at local Christian and Classical Christian schools. She loves History and enjoys drama, frequently combining the two in order to make an impression on her eighth graders. She is an avid hockey fan. Ms. Kavanagh is a widow and has two grown sons. She worships at New Covenant Presbyterian. Mrs. Kavanagh loves teaching the Middle Ages and has developed a castle game where the class will research weaponry, design castles and wage warfare. Nancy is a self-acclaimed "Lord of the Rings" geek and loves watching movies and sports.


Grace McManus

Mrs. McManus graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Pennsylvania State University. Her teaching experience includes homeschooling her four children and teaching at Redeemer Classical Christian School. She joined the NCCS faculty in 2005 and is known for her gentle, quiet demeanor. Her youngest son is a NCCS graduate (class of 2013). Grace enjoys biking and hiking and her affectionate cockapoo, Colt, loves to accompany her on walking trails. Her newest hobby that she hopes to pursue more is dirt bike riding.


Ginny Powell

Mrs. Powell has taught Mathematics and Science at NCCS for several years. She approaches every lesson with joy and enthusiasm. Mrs. Powell has three grown children. Her youngest is a NCCS graduate. Ginny and her husband live in Bel Air and worship at Grace Community Church. Ginny enjoys reading, exercising, and being with her children and grandchildren. We are so proud of Mrs. Powell for teaching Math for over 30 years, that is quite an accomplishment!


The Rev. Jeff Smith

Jeff is the Pastor of Real Life Community Church in Harford County. He loves the Lord and thoroughly enjoys teaching. He has his Masters degree in Biochemical Engineering from UMBC and he taught at UMBC for 23 years. He believes in the importance of helping his students develop "sound and logical arguments." He and his wife have three high school and college age children. Jeff enjoys sharing truth, whatever the topic especially loves that moment when a student "gets it." He appreciates that classical education teaches HOW to think rather than just WHAT to think or know. He loves teaching science and connecting it with the world that God created. Have you seen Jeff play basketball?!


Stacey Steeves

Stacey has been affiliated with NCCS for many years. She taught physical education for us in our early years. She has her Bachelors degree in education and her experience includes teaching in Baltimore County Public Schools and homeschooling her girls. Stacey and her husband, Mike, have three children, two in college and one in our Grammar School. Stacey and her family are animal lovers! They have a golden retriever, poodle mix, small flock of chickens, parakeet and various tropical fish.


Christie Walters

Years ago Christie taught literature and history at NCCS to our first Logic students. She has a Bachelors degree in History and a love for classical education. She served as secretary for the NCCS Board of Directors for many years. She loves the art of debate and enjoys working with Rhetoric students. Christie enjoys reading and exploring places that are historically rich. She and her husband, Daniel, have three children at NCCS and worship at Living Hope PCA. Christie is a historian at heart and her favorite book right now is "The Architectural History of Harford County" by Christopher Weeks. She consider it such an honor and privilege to serve on the NCCS Board for 10 years.


Joanne Webb

Mrs. Webb graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in business from the University of Maryland at College Park and earned a master’s degree in teaching from Mary Baldwin College. She and her husband Rob have three daughters and a son and attend New Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her oldest daughter is a NCCS graduate (class of 2013). Mrs. Webb became an official part of the NCCS faculty in 2009. Mrs. Webb has a sunny personality and a practical approach to teaching difficult concepts.
