George Jaggers

Head of School

Mr. Jaggers has been a classical student his whole life. A graduate of a classical school, Mr. Jaggers earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from Grove City College. He is completing an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. In the classroom, Mr. Jaggers taught history, literature, political science, economics, Bible, apologetics, and rhetoric. With over twenty years of experience in community and professional theatre, Mr. Jaggers has also led performing arts teams and theatre departments. Mr. Jaggers and his wife (another classical graduate) have devoted their lives to classical, Christian education.

Kathy Heeter

Grammar School Office Manager

Kathy came to NCCS in 2000 and has served as the Office Manager since that time. She attended Essex Community College where she earned an associates degree as an executive secretary. Kathy and her husband, Tony, have three children, live in Bel Air and worship at Christ Fellowship Church. Her ability to multi-task and think ahead combined with her pleasant personality make her a tremendous asset to our school. When asked what is your favorite book, Kathy responded, "I very much enjoy all of the fictional books written by Louise Penny. I have never read an author who has such deep, personal character development and who uses such beautiful language and thought in her work."


Holly Fitzpatrick

Associate Administrator and College Advisor

Holly Fitzpatrick joined New Covenant Christian School in 2011 and is delighted to be serving as College Advisor and overseeing the Student Leadership Council, Social Media and Event Planning. Holly and her husband, Scott, have two daughters and she feels her main ministry is teaching their girls about God's love and grace for them. She is passionate about strong marriages and enjoys volunteering with local outreaches. Her business experience and attention to detail make her the perfect fit for leadership and administration.


Kim Davis

Mrs. Davis has been a school parent since her two daughters enrolled in the Preschool. She started working at the school in 2004 as a substitute teacher and lunch aide. In 2006, after leaving her position as a bookkeeper, she came to work full time at NCCS, where she handles all day-to-day financial workings of the school. She is known for her professionalism, her attention to detail, and her kind and patient manner. Kim enjoys traveling and one of her favorite memories was her trip to Europe visiting London, Paris and Italy.

Denise Kord

Denise Kord has been teaching for over 15 years. She and her husband, Steve, have three children in our school. She has been affiliated with NCCS for many years and has her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Educational Administration. Her teaching experience includes several elementary grades as well as preschool in both public and Christian schools. Her love for teaching young children permeates everything she does! Denise is active in her church where she and her husband oversee the youth program.


Teresa Nos

Kindergarten Classroom Assistant

We are blessed to have Teresa as a Kindergarten Aide. She has worked at NCCS for several years and brings years of experience as a preschool teacher to her job. Teresa and her husband have two grown children and worship at Harford Community Church. She is a mentor, a prayer warrior and a devoted grandmother. Teresa loves beach combing; finding shells and other "gifts from the sea."


Pat Eldreth

First Grade Teacher

Mrs. Eldreth began teaching first grade for NCCS in 2004. She is widowed and has two grown sons. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore and, after several years in the business world, returned to school to earn her master of arts in teaching degree from Towson University. Her students benefit from her love of learning, her thoroughness, her professionalism, and her Godly character. She believes in encouraging each of her young students to "obey without delay" and seeks to start them gently on the path of life-long learning. Pat delights in teaching the first grade as it allows her to combine the three things that she loves; teaching, children and the Lord. Years after leaving the Grammar School, her students remember learning about Maryland, about Thanksgiving and celebrating the 100th day of school.


Jill Kallmyer

Second Grade Teacher

Ms. Kallmyer has been at NCCS since our opening year. At that time she taught kindergarten, and in 2003 she moved to second grade. Ms. Kallmyer earned a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Towson University. She also has experience as a teacher in the Preschool and has served as the Director of New Covenant Presbyterian Co-op Preschool. Ms. Kallmyer is a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church and has two grown daughters. Her teaching style features a gentle and caring manner with consistent and firm discipline. It is a joy to watch her interact with her students as she encourages each child to excel. In her free time, Jill loves gardening and baking . She has been to London three times. She loves spending time with her granddaughter and loves teaching history! Her students look forward to the infamous "MUMMY WRAP" every year where they dress in Ancient Egyptian costumes, "mummify" themselves and their teacher and see history come to life.


Janet Barker

Third Grade Teacher

Mrs. Barker joined the staff of NCCS in 2002 as our third grade teacher. Her teaching is marked by an infectious enthusiasm for the Lord Jesus Christ, for her students, and for the material she teaches. She came to NCCS with eight years of classroom experience (in Christian schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey) and ten years of home schooling her four sons. She graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, with a bachelor of science degree in education and has taken graduate courses at Penn State. Her husband David serves as the pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Barker wants to be a model of servant leadership to the children under her care and wants her students to remember that "God is their life" and they should serve Him with gladness.


Megan Shick

Fourth Grade Teacher

Miss Rossi earned her bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education and Classical Education from Grove City College. Megan's affiliation with New Covenant began at age 3, when she attended NCCS preschool. She was a part of the first NCCS graduating class and the first graduate to attend NCCS from grades one through twelve. After spending a few years teaching in Pittsburgh, Megan returns to NCCS, this time as a teacher, which she considers the fulfillment of her ultimate career goal. She is delighted to take her years of education at NCCS and her specialized training in Classical education to equip her students with the tools to use their own classical Christian education to make a positive difference in the world. She and her husband, Adam Shick, married in the summer of 2018.


Nancy Kavanagh

Fifth Grade Teacher

Mrs. Kavanagh came to NCCS after several years at home. Her teaching experience includes grammar, middle and high school at local Christian and classical Christian schools. She loves history and enjoys drama, frequently combining the two in order to make an impression on her students. She is an avid hockey fan. Mrs. Kavanagh is a widow and has two grown sons. She worships at New Covenant Presbyterian.


Lynne Rossi

Sixth Grade Teacher

Mrs. Rossi earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her experience includes teaching fifth grade in Baltimore County public schools and teaching Latin at NCCS. Mrs. Rossi and her husband, Rob, have four children (two at NCCS). Her oldest daughter was part of the first NCCS graduating class and was the first graduate to attend NCCS from grades one through 12. Lynne has a great sense of humor and a calm demeanor, perfect for teaching our oldest grammar school students as they transition to logic. Mrs. Rossi has 3 cats who are large and in charge and one of them is named Betsy Rossi. :-)

Dawn Hennlein

Grammar Art

Dawn has her Bachelors degree from Towson in Art Education. She taught Art for 13 years in Baltimore County Public Schools and has worked locally at Amazing Glaze and had given private lessons in her studio. Dawn loves to keep the children moving and engages many modalities. She is a high energy, delightful teacher! Dawn and her husband have two grown children and one grandson. Dawn started a ministry several years ago (Big Blessed Hearts Stocking Project) in honor of her parents. Ask her about that! In Dawn's spare time she loves working in her art studio, creating and painting. She is passionate about creating mixed media artwork that shines a light on Christ, and using her God given gifts and talents.


Adam Shick

Grammar School Physical Education

Adam joined our staff in 2017 as the physical education teacher. Adam is a graduate of Grove City College, where he majored in Exercise Science and played on the football team. He is certified as a Sports Performance Coach, and works with student athletes of all ages. He is currently the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Axis Sport Performance in Columbia, MD. He is a dedicated power lifting and weightlifting competitor. Adam is engaged to be married to Megan Rossi, an Upper School Humanities teacher and NCCS graduate. He is excited to get involved in a school he's heard so much about from the whole Rossi family.


Deborah Shultz

Music

Mrs. Shultz graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Human Resource Management. She has directed children’s choirs and children’s theater productions for over 20 years. During the 14 years she homeschooled her daughters, she taught piano. Before coming to New Covenant Christian School, Mrs. Shultz was the Director of Children’s Ministries at Real Life Community Church for 10 1/2 years. She and her husband are now members of Grace Community Church in Kingsville where she teaches grades 2-5 during Sunday school and sings on the Praise & Worship Team. Growing up she had the benefit of being part of her family’s band which she credits for her love of music. It has been a blessing to share God’s gift of music with so many children.


Shari Thompson

Latin Teacher

Mrs. Thompson is an NCCS “charter parent” and began her association with NCCS when her eldest son enrolled in kindergarten in 1999. She and her husband, Greg, have three sons and live in Churchville. Mrs. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree of science in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Delaware and has had formal and informal training in Latin and Spanish. Shari has a passion for children and believes that the love of Jesus Christ can be taught in any language. She began teaching Latin at the Grammar School in 2005. Mrs. Thompson teaches beginning Latin at the Grammar School and advanced Latin at the Upper School. When we asked Shari what she was passionate about she said.."TEACHING LATIN!!! " She loves helping her students realize that everyone can learn Latin. Mrs. Thompson loves walking with her 2 German Shepherds who may look and sound ferocious but are really just big babies.

Robert Brown

Math

Mr. Brown has a Bachelor's degree in French and a Master's degree and post-graduate work in math. He has also completed 17 courses toward a MA in Christian Ministry from New Geneva Theological Seminary. He has been a full-time professor at the Community College of Baltimore County since 1996, recently having served 6 years as the Dundalk campus math department chair. His family worships at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, and his five children attend NCCS.


Melissa Finley

Math and Spanish

Mrs. Finley has been affiliated with NCCS for many years. She came back to teach in 2014. Her teaching style includes lots of dialog, songs and fun. Mrs. Finley and her five children worship at Living Hope Presbyterian.


Grace Paone

Math, Science, and Computer Programming

Mrs. Paone graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Pennsylvania State University. Her teaching experience includes homeschooling her four children and teaching at Redeemer Classical Christian School. She joined the NCCS faculty in 2005 and is known for her gentle, quiet demeanor. Her youngest son is a NCCS graduate (class of 2013). Grace and her husband live in Bel Air and worship at Christ Fellowship Church in Forest Hill. She enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her children and grandson.


Christie Walters

Rhetoric and Debate

Years ago Christie taught literature and history at NCCS to our first Logic students. She has a Bachelors degree in History, a secondary education degree in history from William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN. and a love for classical education. She served as secretary for the NCCS Board of Directors for many years. She loves the art of debate and enjoys working with Rhetoric students. Christie enjoys reading and exploring places that are historically rich. She and her husband, Daniel, have three children at NCCS and worship at Living Hope PCA. Christie is a historian at heart and her favorite book right now is "The Architectural History of Harford County" by Christopher Weeks. She considered it such an honor and privilege to serve on the NCCS Board for 10 years.


Ginny Powell

Math

Mrs. Powell has a degree in math education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel college) and has taught Mathematics and Science at NCCS for several years. She approaches every lesson with joy and enthusiasm. Mrs. Powell has four grown children. Her youngest is a NCCS graduate. Ginny and her husband live in Bel Air and worship at Christ Fellowship Church. Ginny enjoys reading, exercising, and being with her children and eight grandchildren. We are so proud of Mrs. Powell for teaching math for over 30 years, which is quite an accomplishment!


Alisha White

Biology and Chemistry

Mrs. White graduated with a bachelor of science in biology from Penn State University. Her teaching experiences prior to coming to NCCS include homeschooling her two children as well as teaching in the homeschool community for many years. Alisha lives in Belcamp with her husband and two children, and they worship at Mountain Christian Church. Mrs. White is known for her deep love of sloths, which developed in college during a two-week field-study course to the rainforests of Costa Rica. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends and family.


Catherine Rodriguez Cappelletti

Mrs. Cappelletti has a degree in Special Education and joined the NCCS in 2012. She has homeschooled her children and served as the head of a large homeschool consortium. She loves facilitating discussion from her students. Cat and her husband Ryan have eleven children between them. They are active members of Mountain Christian Church.


Michelle Cockerham

Humanities, Upper Art, Writing and Composition

Mrs. Cockerham graduated from The College of Notre Dame with a B.A. degree in communication arts. Her teaching experience has come from homeschooling her children and from three years of teaching at another Christian school. She came to NCCS in 2008. Michelle's passion and experience with Classical education developed during her years as a homeschool mom/teacher. She believes that guiding young people to see history, literature, and art as the record of God's unfolding plan of redemption is truly a joy. She and her husband, Gene, have five children and live in Joppa.


Philip Pugh

Humanities, Junior and Senior Thesis

Mr. Pugh holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Covenant College, an M.A. in theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and an M.A. in Philosophy from Boston College. His influences include Peter Kreeft, Walker Percy, St. Augustine of Hippo, Carl Trueman, and J. Gresham Machen. Outside of academic interests, Mr. Pugh plays violin, enjoys boardgaming, likes to hike in the woods, and collects bow ties. He is also an avid reader of the works of P.G. Wodehouse. His approach to teaching is shaped by G.K. Chesterton's idea that “There is no such thing on earth as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person.”


Kurt Scharping

Humanities and Bible

Kurt Scharping was earned his B. A. at Wichita State University with an emphasis in Religious Studies. He earned his M. A. in Systematic Theology at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has taught a mix of Logic, Latin, Biblical Greek, History, Mathematics, and Bible for over fifteen years in classical schools. His hobbies are reading, and teaching his children Greek, and Bible. He has six children and has been married to Melanie since 2004. His favorite chapter in the Bible is Isaiah 6.


The Rev. John Ceselsky

Bible & Christian Worldview

Reverend Ceselsky serves as an Assistant Pastor at Aisquith Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, where he has served the youth and families of the church since 1998. John joined the NCCS faculty in 2010, teaching ninth grade Bible and Christian Worldview. John earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Baltimore and a master of divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Julie, live in Forest Hill.
